On November 14th at Carnegie Mellon University, I had the opportunity to join a panel with Natalie de Vries, co-founder of MVRDV, where I was among the students invited on stage to interview her. The discussion traced the past and present trajectory of MVRDV’s work, highlighting key themes such as sustainability, environmental and community awareness, and responsible building practices. This experience was especially meaningful to me—not only because I was able to engage directly with one of the world’s leading women architects, but also because it offered firsthand insight into the principles and decision-making processes behind one of the most influential contemporary design firms. Engaging with her through my own questions made the conversation both inspiring and deeply formative.
