This project employs shape grammars to analyze and reinterpret a traditional Turkish çini pattern from the İznik Green Mosque. Through a systematic breakdown, the pattern was revealed to originate entirely from hexagonal manipulations—overlapping, rotating, scaling, intersecting, and selectively removing lines to produce secondary geometries. A concise rule set was developed to reconstruct the original pattern and generate a novel configuration that maintains the visual logic and traditional color palette of çini while introducing a new, previously unseen composition.
